Congratulation Mr. President for your new job as the President of Global Green Growth Institute. Please do remember that
- You have passed a reclamation permit for Tanjung Benoa, Bali. Your policy will lead to massive development projects (economic growth) but at the same time will create devastating social and environmental impact in Southern Bali (unsustainable).
- Under your leadership. Million of hectares of Indonesian forests have been cleared for mining, (illegal) logging and palm oil industry. That is clearly an economic growth, but definitely not green, Sir!
- A UN report in 2013 has given low mark for forest governance in Indonesia. http://goo.gl/AhoxM3. One of key things to improve forest governance and to move toward green growth is zero tolerance for corruption. You haven’t done quite well to eradicate corruption in your current term.
- You have endorsed to build coal-fired power plant to boost economic growth. Unfortunately it will threaten our food sovereignty. Of course, burning more coal will increase Indonesia’s carbon emission. Thus, it will make us major contributor for climate change.
I wish all the best to you and hope that all your dreams will come true.
